www.ontri.com
grows its online triathlon training community to over 5,000 members
in its first year of operation
Membership for web-based triathlon training community surpasses the
(5,000) five thousand mark in ten months
Boston, MA Feb, 10, 2005 – ontri.com, Inc., today announced that the
web-based triathlon training community has grown its membership to
over (5,000) five thousand triathletes in just ten months of
operation. Its membership covers all 50 U.S. states and all levels
of triathlon enthusiasts, from first-timers to seasoned Ironman
champions.
"ontri.com is a place where anyone interested in the sport of
triathlon can visit, connect with other athletes, share information
and access triathlon training programs and content," said Jon
Finegold, founder of ontri.com, Inc. "In addition, ontri.com
provides a unique virtual training competition whereby athletes can
compete with each other by logging their swimming, cycling and
running miles right on the ontri.com web site."
http://www.ontri.com is free to join. Users can create their own
club on ontri.com compete with their training buddies, and share
information, training tips, photos, and race results. Visitors to
ontri.com can also choose to join one of the many public clubs and
connect with thousands of other athletes.
Darcie Leighty of Salem, Oregon joined ontri.com this January and
claims it’s already one of her favorite sites. “My sister and I are
planning to run our first sprint triathlon together in June. We are
both on ontri.com and it’s great motivation to compete against each
other’s workout history,” said Leighty. “It also motivates me see
the ‘completed’ marks next to my training schedule and not to
mention I wouldn't have known where to begin without the training
program the site provided. I just love ontri.”
Robert Schuster of Tucson, AZ has been an ontri.com member since the
spring of 2004 when the site first launched and last July he won the
overall superstars of the month competition logging more miles than
any other ontri member. “It’s been fun to watch ontri grow,” says
Schuster. “They’re always adding new features, making the site
better and it’s simply a great way to add some fun to my training.
I’ve invited several of my friends to join and now I compete with
them as well as the hundreds of others in my ontri club. I often add
extra miles to my swimming, cycling and running workouts just to
solidify my position on top of the ontri.com leader board, so the
competition has really worked well for me as a motivator.”
What’s next for ontri.com?
"As the sport of triathlon continues to gain popularity with new
races being added all over the country and with thousands of new
athletes getting into the sport, we plan to keep adding features to
help our athletes prepare for races more effectively and incorporate
fun and motivation to their training,” says Finegold. “This is an
exciting time to be involved in triathlon and ontri.com is designed
to help.”
To round out its site,
ontri.com has relationships with local
coaches and trainers who provide content for the site, as well as a
race database from
www.trifind.com
and discounts on gear purchased
at www.trivillage.com using a special coupon code given to all
