Message: Yeah hopefully they drink enough fluid but not to much... when running. It's really hard to maintain hydratation when it's hot like that.

Message: Way to go all of you in Florida!

Everyone finished the olympic distance race here in Arizona also Ty, Andy and myself. Full results have not been posted yet.
The lake was too warm for wetsuits.
The run was amazingly hot! Just hanging out in the shade after the race was tough.
I was able to meet Andy and his AZ tri club friends after the race.

Message: Oh my gosh!!! Thank you to everyone for following us all so closely! I was so touched by all the
e-mails and posts from you all! It means a lot to have your support for all of us competing yesterday in Florida and Arizona. I am just sorry that things were so hectic on Saturday for my husband and I that I couldn't meet up with Jael and the other ontri participants. The race went really well. Amazingly, I felt good all day long. I have never been so at peace with myself during a race before. All of the credit is due to the training I followed through the ontri training program. I can honestly testified that following that regimen helped me get the 6:26 finish. So, if any of you plan to do a 1/2 Ironman in the near future feel comfortable knowing that the training program through ontri works fantastically!!!
Now, let's get down to business about the race particularly the bike. It was not FLAT!!! Luckily my husband and I drove the course on Saturday so I was prepared for the hills. I would say that 1/3 of the bike was far from the rolling hills that the race officials described. To some of you up north you would have had no problems with these hills...but I have lived in Florida for the last 6 years and I forgot what it was like to ride hill repeats. So, I was happy to have known ahead of time about these hills on the course. Some were steeper than others so you had to be aware of your gears. What made it difficult was there was so much pack racing. A pack of us would be going at a nice pace being very careful not to draft...than all of a sudden a pack of faster riders would come from behind and practically run you off the road. It's the nature of the beast I guess but some competitors need to be more respectful of the way they pass people. I later found out that a crash occured on the course because a rider was way too close while making the pass and his bike caught on to another riders wheel. I had to get that frustration off my chest. Despite the hill section, the remaining two thirds were flat and fast with very little wind. Although it may not sound like it..I really enjoyed the bike course. The run was HOT! HOT! HOT! Three laps and hardly any shade! At first I wasn't pleased to be running on grass, but after mile three I was happy to have the cushion. The tempature was much hotter for a May in Florida than usual. I don't remember in year's past it being that hot. The funny thing is that I think I owe the race officials money because I fueled so much. One very important thing!!! I made sure to stop and stretch at the transitions and whenever I hit the first aid station on the run loops. That really prevented cramping as well as the fueling. All in all the race went well. I would do this race again because I liked the course. I am very proud of my race results and I am glad I could share my experienece with all of you. I hope that I can help anyone who plans to do a race here in Florida or anywhere for that matter. Again, I really have to testify at how pleased I was with the ontri training plan my husband and I followed. It really helped us prepare for the Olympic distance in March and most importantly this 1/2 Ironman. I will continue to spread the word to as many people as I can about how great this site is for it's training, info and most importantly user support. thanks again!!! Congratulations to all of the participants!!!!!!!!!!
