| Discussion: tendonitis in my foot | |
Subject: tendonitis in my foot By: Dan R. Written on: 2006-05-16 10:07:41 Message: I have been training one and off through college (class and weather make it difficult). Receintly I have had tendonitis in my foot. i think it is from my quick laces on my shoes. they are starting to squeeze my foot and running on this has left me unable to train more or less walk on it for the past month. has anyone else had this problem? i have a great store where they can fit the shoes to your running style, should i go back and see if they could get wider shoes?

Written on: 2006-05-17 14:09:43 Message: Is this in the achilles or somewhere else on the foot? having had off and on episodes of tendonitis in my achilles, I have found some pretty dependable rehab techniques. On the other hand, I guess if my techniques were reliable I wouldn't have had more than one episode!

Subject: RE: tendonitis in my foot By: Amy C. Written on: 2006-05-17 22:36:34 Message: If it's on the top of your foot, we need to talk. I have recently (about 2 weeks) been struggling with pain on top of my foot. It was on the left and then mysteriously switched to the right? What gives? I have a long and narrow foot and have stuck to the same brand of running shoes for quite some time now without any problems? I am also a yoga instructor and am even struggling to hold poses while teaching. I am biking more than I have in the past (early season) ? Can anyone help us ?

Subject: RE: tendonitis in my foot By: Paula O. Written on: 2006-05-19 16:22:16 Message: Have you guys tried those elastic shoe laces that are like little bungie cords? The name escapes me right now, but a lot of the tri and running shops sell them and they can be found on line too. Very good for cutting down T2 time and comfortable too. They have more give to them than conventional laces, and conform to your foot. Of course, you will have to treat your existing injuries with ice, rest, frequent elevation and anti-inflammatories.
Subject: RE: tendonitis in my foot By: Paula O. Written on: 2006-05-19 16:32:09 Message: Oops, Sorry Dan, your whole post didn't sink in. Just finished a brick workout and must be low on glucose. I see you are already using the elastic laces. Are you sure this is a tendonitis? There is also a nerve that runs along the top of your foot that is very sensetive to pressure. Your shoes may also be worn out. When I was in college I squeezed every last mile out of my shoes, and it is amazing the miriad of problems that can be caused by worn shoes. It is probably an excellent idea to visit your local running shop for a refit. Good luck
Subject: RE: tendonitis in my foot By: MARY M. Written on: 2006-05-20 13:18:55 Message: IF YOUR STILL HAVING A LOT OF PROBLEM WITH TENDONITIS YOU MIGHT CONSIDER SEEING A PODIATRIST FOR CUSTOMER ORTHODICS IF YOU RUN A LOT. I HAD ANKLE SURGURY LAST FALL AND WHILE I WAS REHABBING I STARTED TO GET GET TENDONITIS IN THE OPPOSITE FOOT BECAUSE MY GAIT WAS INCORRECT AND I WAS COMPENSATING BACAUSE THE TENDONS AND MUSCLES WERE STIFF IN THE OTHER FOOT. MY PODIATRIST SUGGESTED WEARING ORTHODICS UNTIL MY GAIT WAS CORRECTED. CUSTOM ONES WOULD INSURE THAT NO MATTER WHAT SHOE YOU WEAR YOU WOULD MAINTAIN A PROPER GAIT RELEAVING THE PRESSURE ON THE TENDONS TO OVERCOMPENSATE. ALSO SEEING A PODIATRIST WOULD BE HELPFUL IF ITS SOMETHING OTHER THEN TENDONITIS THAT YOU HAVE.
