Message: OK. Back on track today. After my guilt trip from this weekend I decided to give it a shot and do a sprint tri (same distances as my august triathlon) on the trainers at the Y. Took me 16:44 in the pool (750 meters), T1 was 8 minutes, couldn't get my lock combination without my glasses, ha ha....12 miles on the bike in 35:00 minutes, T2 was a whopping twelf seconds (treadmills are next to the bike) and the 5 K in 26 minutes. Felt great afterwards. The brick training from the last couple of weeks teally helped me out. I know that this really doesn't mean anything because iot's not an open water swim, outdoor bike, weather etc, etc. but it was still a great workout. Any of you guys do something like this every once in a while? Is it ok to make it part of your training routine (maybe once in a while or so)...Jael, how is your groin injury?

Message: Leo,

Good job putting your guilt to good work. Congrats on the simulator tri. Don't say that it doesn't mean something, when it does. Just think of the millions and millions of people that have not done or will not EVER do what you just did (hope that makes sense). That is what I think about when I need a little extra motivation.

Message: I did a "trainer tri" before my first two years ago, and it gave me a benchmark of sort to work on. I like the 12 second T2....if they could all only be that fast! For our Ironman training we will effort a 1/2 IM "training tri" as well. They come in handy to give real life scenarios.
Great Job!!!

Message: Hi Leo,
good going with your Self Made Sprint Tri!
You have come so far in so little time! Way to go!
And YES, it does mean something that you were able to do it all!
Ok, your swim was not an open water swim but you are still swimming the distance.
If you can do a .25 mile swim in open water with a couple of people before the race. It will really help you get mentally prepared...if you cannot, just remember...IT IS ONLY WATER and yes, Swim to the Side, Swim to the Side as Andy once told me (as you can tell, it is now engraved in my memory-I will take it with me on Sunday at my 1/2 IM).
The groin muscle is doing WONDERFULY! I am so very relieved!
I did what you told me (following your wife's advice), ice, miracle rub and rest for two days and the muscle felt like new! I even did a brick this weekend (one hour bike followed by the 30 minute run) and everything worked! So, Disney here I come!
Leo, I am so excited for you! August will be here before you know it!
Keep up the great work!

Jael

Message: July will be my first tri. What you did is an excellent idea and i'm going to do that soon just to see where i'm at in my training. My run and bike is solid, the swim is whats getting me at this point. Good luck to you.
