Message: May sound like an odd question.... but I'm trying to get on some sort of meal plan that might help me attain the most endurance and overall body... uhh... "transformation" I suppose. Right now I think I might be restricting my calories a bit too much.. (I'm drinking protien shakes for breakfast, cereal or a giant salad for lunch , a massive amount of fruits and veggies as a snack and usually some kind of salad and protien for dinner) but I'm afraid of over eating and not benifitting from my workouts.

Any suggestions???

Greatly appreciated.

Message: Sounds like you are eating healthy but I would suggest that you not do a protein shake for breakfast and go with something that has more complex carbs in it IE a peanut butter and jelly bagel or some fruit with a bowl of Raisin Bran. the main reason for that is your body burns its Glycogen stores at night and they control the way your body works from thinking to help digestion. So you need to replenish those immediately or you will feel lethargic and even a bit tired. Plus with being an endurance athlete you need carbs to keep the bosy going (remember that the body will use carbs in over 2 dozen functions before storing them as fat and only about 2 percent of carbs in sedentary people get stored as fat so as athletes we don't have to worry). I would suggest a diet that has 60 percent carbs and around 20-22 percent fat and 18-20 percent from protein. I would get the protein in towards the end of the day to rebuild the mucles plus protien helps you feel full faster plus it makes the body feel tired so it will help you rest easier at night.
Just in case you are wondering I got the inforamtion from a training program I got from Chris Carmichael (Lance Armstrongs coach) and it can be found in his book Food For Fitness. I highly recommend it
