Subject: What time of year should I do my first ironman?

Message: I have decided to compete in my very first ironman in 2007.

My dilemma is that I prefer to race at the sprint or international distances and would like to race these distances throughout the summer. I know that training for an ironman entails lots of long swims, rides, and runs and am worried that this might affect my speed at shorter distances.

Should I do the ironman in the late spring, early summer, late summer, or early fall?

I'm currently looking at Ironman Arizona (April), Ironman Coeur d' Alene (June), Ironman Canada (August), or the Grand Columbian (September).
