Message: Hey all,

I just found the website, and I am thinking about moving to Frisco within the next year. How is Frisco for training? Are there any parks or trails for running? How is biking with the traffic? Thanks for the input!

Brad

Message: Welcome Brad!

Friso's a very multi-friendly town. I've found that the Frisco Commons park is a pretty nice place to run. I'm checking out some other parks and sites and will let you know what I find. I also like running at the Arbor Hills park in Plano just south on the Tollway.

The biking is a little challenging as of late because of all the construction. The Richardson Bike Mart store (on Preston in Frisco) has free rides every Saturday (I believe they're at 9am). The key to good cycling in Frisco is to avoid Preston and 121.

The bike mart ride starts at the store and goes up Parkwood to hook up with Ohio I believe.

Also, if you can get past Main Street going north, there are tons of smaller towns with less traffic. This makes for some nice long rides.

Thx,
Chris

Message: The West Side of Frisco has several "new" 4-lane divided roads (Teal & Legacy) that you can pretty much ride on all day without much traffic. Legacy runs from 121 to El Darado & Teal runs from Lebanon to El Darado. They just opened a new 4-lane that connects the two just North of Lebanon & you can ride through a neighborhood just South of El Darado to onnect them on the North End. It is pretty easy for me to go out & do 30 miles. The bad news - they run North & South which usually means riding into a stiff wind from the South.

Message: Hey Brad
I'm on the The far other side of the Metroplex, you should come down and ride our local charity ride, http://www.thegoatneck.com/.
72 miles of nice rolling (for texas) uncrowded country roads. We had almost 2300 riders last year!

On the tri side of things check this site for a schedule of some events-

Message: Thanks guys. I'm living in Santa Monica, Ca right now and honestly I was nervous about coming back to the Dallas area (I grew up in big D) because of limited natural resources. Sounds like it's actually pretty good though. i just need a 30 mile ride where i won't get hit by a car and a 6-10 run on some grass or trail. you guys covered both.

I'll be in town in a couple weeks. Maybe I'll get a couple runs in with the group...

thanks again
brad
