Message: A friend of mine, who I convinced to do my first tri with me this year, just moved to Madison WI and is in search of a pool to join. She really misses her old pool, lane mates and coaches back in CA. Any recommendations from any Wisconsinites out there? I want to help motivate her because she has been such a great motivator in my life. Thanks!

Message: I swim at the Madison West YMCA- the Master's Swim there is fun, it's Monday and Wednesday nights from 8:45-10:00 (which is kind of late). The coach is helpful if you ask her, and the people are really nice. There's usually only six or eight people there, and the workouts are good. I was really intimidated at first, but it's really not scary at all. I think the next session starts next week- you can either join the Y or pay $100 for the class for 8 weeks.
Hope that helps!

Message: If she is near the University, its not a bad idea to join the pools there. There are two pools available for a variety of hours.

I am on the tri team at the school and if she is affiliated with the University, she can join the team. There is also a club called HeadHunters and TriWisconsin if she is looking for any other clubs.

Message: I swim at the YMCA-east (I'm pretty sure the Y membership gets you access to all Y's in the state). I like it a lot. I have only once had to wait for a lane, and the wait was about 3 minutes. It's $40 per month, or $10 per swim if you don't want to join. I understand there are some cheaper pools in Stoughton and Verona (short drives away). The University pools are great, but are only available to students/faculty/spouses, etc.
