Message: How much protien, carbs, fats, etc. Is there a place an athlete or me, can do this. A place like ONTRI but for triathlete nutrition?

Message: I'm also curious about this. I've been watching caloric intake and trying to balance what I eat, but is there a specific place for us to sort of figure out a diet for training?

Message: I found this website (calorie-count.com) which seems to be good. Before I started using this website I had no idea how few calories I was eating. It sas a wide range of foods and allows you to add food prett easily. It also gives you a more accurate caloric expenditure than ontri because it takes YOUR height and weight into consideration Hope it helps.

Message: Do what I do train for an Ironman keep your training volume high (making sure to recover) and eat anything in sight and drink all the beer you want! Then when its your offseason scale back just a tad and enjoy thanksgiving and Christmas and gain a few pounds. That will motivate you more than ever to train again.
I try to eat a lot of fruit and veggies and make sure I get good recovery foods but I need my frenc fries and beer!! My wife loves her Chinese and Ice cream too. Not saying that eating healthy is bad. I think as long as you eat fairly healthy and in my case I take some supplements not too worry a whole lot. There are some pros that say you need to monitor anything you eat and log it carefully. Then there is Faris Al-Sutan that did an interview last year and he said that if you want that cheese burger eat it and don't blame yourself. If you rob yourself of those favorites then is it really that fun. He has been known to be different (he did have an alcohol company as his primary sponsor another reason to love him!). If the training volume is there and you don't over eat and get too much I think you will be fine. Like I said before I couldn't tell you how much I ate yesterday or the amount of carbs fat and whatever and I am still under 7 percent body fat and at the top of my game. Could I be better if I ate better? Maybe or it would make me miserable and I quit after two years. Enjoy it don't go at it like Lance.
I do second the Chris Carmichael book. I read it and it did help me understand how everything worked. The one thing is trying to figure out exactly how much of something you are really eating and almost everyone underestimates. I make it easy I eat everything LOL. You can guess and if you do I would suggest to go high. If you really want to get anal about it you can get a scale and weigh everything but then people would just call you Little Lance.
As far as feeling tired and larthagic it may not be your calorie intake as much as your protein intake. Protein makes you feel full and it takes longer for the body to digest and process it(hence why you can't move after thanksgiving dinner). So you will feel tired and bogged down because your body wants to rest and slow down to be able to process everything. I would suggest keeping the calorie intake the same and upping the carbs a bit then if you feel tired up the calorie intake. Of course you may be overtraining a bit too if that is the case but that is a whole different topic!
