Subject: Need swimming advice.

Message: Hey folks, I'm looking at doing a half-ironman in July 06...probably Spirit of Racine...I've ran a few half-marathons and finished a couple of sprint triathlons. However, my swimming needs MUCH improvement. There was some breastroke and sidestroke in my sprint swim and it was only a half mile swim. I'd really like to work on my swim this winter and was wondering what advice you all might have for a beginning swimmer. Thanks,
Adam

Message: Hey Adam
Get the DVD "Total Immersion" It'll help a ton. Since your in Wisconsin (I'm assuming, since you mention Racine) Open water right now is not really an option. I went to School in Superior...I know Winter in The badger State! Then get in the open water ASAP. Good luck! Oh by the way.....80 degrees today in Phoenix!
Andy.

Message: Another option is to find a swim coach in your area and ask them to watch your form and give you some pointers and drills. That would cost a little more than the Total Immersion DVD, probably, but hey, it's an option! Work on technique, though. It's amazing how much faster you go when your technique improves, especially in the water!
