Message: While training for this 1/2 iron man, my left foot (three middle toes specifically) begin to hurt (sting, not really fall asleep - a very wierd and painful feeling). This happens when I run long te distance sometimes too. (and when I wear hills and have to walk lots). I still have not purchased clips and bike shoes and really don't have the money right now. Are there shoes that can be worn to bike in that are bike shoes, but don't necessarily do in clips? Also, if wet suits are allowed, can I borrow one or rent one or is this crazy? thanks

Message: I'm not sure about the shoes Mary...I did however purchase clips and shoes for about $100 total at my local SuperGo bike shop. Also. If you have a Play it again Sports in your town, you can get wetsuits cheap....check ebay or I'm almost positive you can rent them also. Good Luck!!!!

Message: I don't know the area in Texas that you live but try the web site trifuel.com.
They have a listing of triathlon specific stores that may be near where you live. You can call and see if they rent wet suits. We have a store here in Ma that rents them as low as $40 for 4 days.
I would definitely try to get the bike cleats. They will improve your riding experience. Just make sure that if you do buy a pair that you give yourself some time before your race to get used to them. Don't want ya to be falling down with your feet stuck .
Good luck
