Message: I am freaking out. I am a teacher and have gone back to work (love those summers off). I am also a grad student and start classes next week on sats and wed evenings. I hate to get up at 4 to do any exercise and try to be dressed and to work by 7 AM. I am trying so hard to do something each evening, but it is so hard and I have much less energy than at 6 or 7 in the morning. I am real worried about my race in Oct (half IM) and not training properly these last two months. I am hoping I have a good enough base built up that I can treat it like marathon training - smaller distances during the week and long/back to back on the weekends. I have a sprint tri this sunday - would it be ok to still ride and run long on sat?
Please send me some encouragement -
I do not want to lose what I have built up. I don't have a trainer other than you.

Message: Don't worry. Get your long workouts in on Saturday and then look at the sprint race as a training event.

I think once you get into a routine of afternoon/evening workouts you will find the energy to get through them. Remember that your body is slow to respond to change of your workout schedule.

Do what you can when you can during the week but make sure you are getting long workouts in on the weekend.

If you have built a strong base over the summer, you will be fine for your October 1/2.

Let us know how it goes.

Good Luck

Andy

Message: I mostly agree with Andy, but I might hold off on a REALLY long workout on Saturday. Sprints aren't too bad....they really are an extended workout...You'll be fine. Seems to me teaching and education are your priorities, so focus....and I'm sure you've got a great base built from the summer....Go get em!
