Discussion: Fading on the run!

Subject: Fading on the run!

Message: I am training for my first Tri late in Sept. I have hit a wall though when it comes to running. My pace is slowing and I'm getting exhausted earlier!

Anyone have any suggestions to help? Running is my worst of the three and it's getting worse!

Message: Patrick I hear u...i've been training in the pool due to the HOT weather. I suggest doing heal - toe movement in the pool. MAKE SURE: u lift your legs up (like u're biking) and keep move your arms (like u're running) . This has increased my speed and has kept me cool this summer...see propsel.com in exhaustion u may need to hydrate BEFORE u start...have fun and let me know how it works for you! ;0)

Message: Patrick,
running is my best event, however, the heat zaps the life out of me when I'm running outdoors. I have to take walking breaks when doing long runs. Those help me in the heat. There's nothing wrong with stopping for a few minutes to catch your breath then starting back up. I run mostly on a treadmill in this heat. I usually only run outdoors once a week. Are you running in the heat? The heat will slow you down if you don't hydrate enough. Try eating a gel before you run. Those really help me and make sure you drink lots of water before you run.

Message: I love running too, but in multi sport training, i often do 4/1 (run 4 min/walk l)
it really helps. In the events, i make sure I walk every water station while I drink.

Message: Thanks for the advice. I seem to have just worked my way through it. Now things are going great. I'm shaving time and feeling great. I think i just needed some rest.

And of course more water!!!!

Those Gel packets ar brilliant i have been using them towards the end of my bike on brick workouts, it makes the run transition a lot easier.
