Subject: COLD SHOCK-tips for an OPEN WATER swim? By: MARTIE MARIE Written on: 2005-07-11 12:28:29 Message: Any tips on the "before" shock of the extremely cold lake water other an using a wet suit? The water temp. for me is great, the colder the better but for my partner in crime it's too cold...we're planning a 800 meter swim? Any quick 10/20 min warm-up tips we can do that WILL NOT tire us out before the swim? Help... ;0) Martie-Mar

I do like to warm up alittle before I hit the water. Streching, Push-ups, sit-ups a little jogging. Actually working up a sweat. At the pool I strech in the shower, the warm water helps me alot. Swimming is good!! ~Daddeo~
