Subject: buying a road bike

Message: I'm looking to buy a new bike. I'm new at cycling and just have a loaner bike. I'm enjoying cycling and want to purchase one but for the price I don't want to buy something I'll hate. I'm riding a bianchi now and like the way the shifting is. My local bike shop owner is trying to get me to buy a Giant. He says its the best bike for the money. Anyone agree or disagree? He says Bianchi's aren't worth the money. I'm 5'1" and 110lbs and am afraid the Giant bike will be too big for me and I'll have problems learning to shift with that bike. I've finally got the hang of the shifting in the bike I have now. Any suggestions as to how to find the right bike?

Message: your pun is funny.. Giant too big

I tried a lot of bikes before I bought one. If anyone is trying to tell you that a bike you don't think is right for you is the one you should buy, well... you'll just regret it. I found a trek online that is amazing. I've bonded with this bike more than any car that I've owned. I had a chance to ride a friend's that was the exact model for a while and then I knew I had to find one.

The bike is where races are won. Find one that agrees with you. If you already have (bianchi)... then buy one. It's only money

I've always been more pissed at spending $5 on something that I don't like or want than thousands on something that truly made me happy. You're going to be on that thing for a long time!

Message: i too was in your shoes about 4 months ago. the only biking i had ever done was mountain biking. when i made the decision to switch to a road bike i borrowed my buddy's. he had a cannondale. the cannondale bikes are nice bikes but i am a small guy. im 5'5", and 145lbs. so cannondale wasnt a good choice for me.
like jv said you have to find a bike that you like for the price you like. i bought a giant in the "small" frame size. it is the tcr c3 model. totally carbon fiber and it feels much smoother that an aluminum frame or forks. and as far as shifting goes, i picked it up very quickly, and like i said i am new to cycling as well

so i agree with your local shop owner, to me for my size and comfort the giant was the best bike/ deal. but i strongly suggest a trial ride on any bike before you purchase one. espically since just about every bike that is worth anything now a days comes with a pretty heavy price tag.

so good luck and happy shopping

Message: I also am looking to buy a bike. A good place to look into is BIKEWORLD.com...they just set up a in store and internet credit line on bikes the entry level is the 1000 trek (this is what I was told)...let me know what u decide...but all is all...the sales tech said, u need to "FIT" into the bike for NOT only comfort but as this bike being part of your body...
