Subject: RE: ocean/lake swimming By: Tan Nguyen Written on: 2005-05-02 15:39:06 Message: I was at a Tri Expo and there was an open water swim seminar. The instructor that ran the class said to swim with your eyes close when your head is down. She said it might be the fear issue with people being out in open water and since you can't really see the bottom, the familiar black lane lines in a pool, you might as well just close your eyes. Also, being in the ocean or lake, you tend to be more buoyant so you'll have to work harder to keep your head down than you would in a pool. Hope that helps.
Subject: RE: ocean/lake swimming By: MARTIE MARIE Written on: 2005-05-02 16:55:27 Message: Maurice...may I suggest a little prayer before you enter the ocean/lake swim. This helps me. Also, I must agree closing your eyes once in while helps. BUT all is all just practice your drills on swimming. See Total Immersion, this book has great drills/tips for swimming...Best of luck!
