Message: I've been training for over 4 months now and I'm burned out. Should I stop. For how long? I seem as if I need more sleep. I am scheduled for my next tri in Sept and a 1/2 marathon in NOV 2005. SHould I stop?

Message: You have answered your own question. Let your body and your mind dictate training. Sometimes I feel the same way. It's amazing what a few days away from training can do for you. Enjoy some of the foods you've been depriving yourself..splurge. Good luck and remember that most people train to better their personal well being ,not to be first on race day. ~Daddeo~

Message: Yeah, I agree with Will. Your body is the best indicator as to whether the training is still beneficial or whether you're heading down the road for an overuse injury. Most of the people I've talked to and the stuff I've read recommends that after a good 3 weeks of solid, tough training....take a week of light training/rest/recovery. Another idea is to use that week of rest to scope out a new bike or running route , which will also freshen the mental aspects of training and won't let your mind think of it as overly monotonous. I even have to ride the bike route backwards every now and again so it seems less repetitious and gets fun again.

Train hard, rest when you need it, and we'll see ya out there!!
