Message: The biggest aspect of your diet, no matter if you're trying to lose weight, stay the same, or gain weight is the protien/carb ratio of the foods you eat. There's a lot of people out there that swear carbs are terrible for you.....but carbs covert easily to glucose, the fuel your muscles need to function in top form. The trick is to eat low and medium glycemic carbs instead of high glycemic carbs. In addition to carbs, protiens are the building blocks of new muscles. The body breaks down protiens into amino acids, and reassembles them for building new mucscle tissue. (A protien powder, while not the best tasting stuff in the world, is a good, quick source of quality protien. Choose a whey (animal source) or soy (vegetable source) powder for the best variety of aminos. I use GNC brand whey protien.)

The recommended ratio I've seen is 50% carbs, 25% protein, and 25%fat (good fats, mind you). You can get a list of low glycemic carbs right off the web if you use a search engine.

Just a small note: muscle tissue weighs more than fat, so many will experience weight loss at first as the fat burns away, then a rise in weight again as muscles build. Concentrate more on body composition rather than weight.

I'll see if I can't dig up some more info on diet and post it on here. Hope this helps out man.

Message: Thanks Scuba for the info. I currently take no suppliments but try to eat naturally. Egg whites, fish and chicken for protein, lots of salads and fresh fruits. For carbs I consume a baked potatoe usually at dinner. I do take multivitamins and glucosamine/chondroitin/msm ( for the joints ).Also I drink as much as 6 20oz bottles of water daily. ~Daddeo~
