Message: I gotta say I had an absolute blast at the phili sprint tri! I can't believe how much I enjoyed the race.
I was really nervous for the swim portion after seeing how far the bouys were. There were two different shapes of bouys in the water the round and triangular. The triangular were the farthest and I though for sure they were for the olympic distance. When I found out they were for the sprint I almost died. My whole pace plan went out the window after about 200 meters, when I looked up and the bouy still looked like it was a mile away. I think by the time I got out of the water I had bumped up an age bracket. After that the bike and run went very smoothly. I felt really good for both legs. I thought my bike time was going to be much much better. I did not pass too many people in the bike and run times but I was in the first wave so I got passed by quite a few people on the bike. I ended up finishing 250 out of about 500 so right smack in the middle. I know that I can improve my times, especially the transition and swim. Really looking forward to the next race!

Message: Thank you all!
I was thinking of trying for an olympic distance in early August, is that too soon considering I was only trainign for a sprint for last weekend? That's only a little more than a month away.

Message: Yo buddy, at least you had a blast. I passed up a dozen folks on the uphill portion of our ride and smiled the entire way. Of course, those same people smoked me on the swim and run but what the hey...at least a good showing on one leg for my first tri.

Those bouys do look far away. I agree with you on that.....
