Message: Anyone now a way to keep nipple irritation away. I seem to get it whenever I run and it doesn't go away for a few days. I can really hurt sometimes. Any help?

Message: Ouch - I can relate. I used to get sore for days, too. Get a bar of Body Glide - available at running stores and looks like a bar of deodorant. Apply it liberally. You may still get a little tender, but nothing like you are now.

Also, are you wearing cotton? If so, tri a run or bike shirt (I cannot think of what the material is called) - they are made of a material that pulls the sweat from your body, thus reducing friction, and therefore, chafing. For the life of me I cannot remember the material, but ask someone at the store and they will know.

Message: Heed Dan's advice: Do NOT wear a cotton shirt, especially one with a silk screen on the front! Most of the "wicking" materials used are polyester, nylon, or spandex. I highly recommend Under Armour!

Message: My male tri-training buddy has to wear bandaids on his nipples when he runs. It's a bummer. His nipples have bled badly during training. I would love to hear some other tips for male nipple irritation eradication. He gets it even when he wears under armour shirts too (without the bandaids).

Message: I don't have any experience with this particular issue, but you might try Lanolin for the irritation you already have. It worked wonders for my sore nipples when I was breast feeding.

Message: The only other remedies I've heard of are Band-Aids and Body Glide. The only problems I've had are with swimming, so I always "tape 'em up" before a tri.

Message: I've had nipple irritation so bad that they bled and ruined the shirt. Two things I do, one for prevention and one for cure. Prevention - body glide but a low cost alternative is A and D diaper ointment, A& can stain so wear a darker shirt and its not noticeable. Cure - Just what Stacie J. said use Lasolin breast feeding cream - Comes in a purple tube - works miracles on getting you back out for some big miles in the heat soon. But beware that stuff really will stain clothing......

Message: As a woman I sometimes experience this in my everyday. My father taught me about vaseline. He was a runner and use to put it on his legs for the chaffing and on the nipples. He swears by it. The vaseline on the nipples works for me too..................it's simple but I get results. Also, Desitin, a diaper rash ointment is great too. It's really heavy and white but it cures the worst rashes and irritations for all of the kids I take care of.
Good luck..............oh yeah, what ever you do, do not itch it during training..........ouch!

Message: Buy the little round band aids and trim the are before applying. That's my advice. I think nipple guards would work as well but look a little funny to your running mates.lol.

Message: Thanks for all the info, I'll try the Body Glide and use some of my baby's desitin to heal.

Message: Aquaphor is a good ointment too. Some folks are allergic to Lanolin, so try different creams. For guys, might want to shave just around nipples before you use the bandaids! Just a thought.

Message: this post is such a relief. I thought I was some super-sensitive-nippled freak. I get this bad (even with tech shirts). Band-aids do the trick...I never thought to apply body-glide...maybe I'll give it a shot.

Message: That's too funny, Paul. When this first happened to me, I was too embarassed to tell anyone - especially other men. Let's face it, no man wants to be known as "that guy with the sensitive nipples." After a few horrible experiences, though, I confided in a friend of mine, and she told me it happens all the time. It was like confessing a gambling or cocaine addiction off my chest...I didn't feel so alone.

Message: Never had the nipple irritation but A& , Desitin, and Chamois Butt'r Creme do wonders to prevent chafing aka Chub Rub down in the nether regions while biking and running. Can't believe i just admitted that but hey, it's the nature of this sport.
