Subject: RE: when should I re-fuel? newbie..... By: John H. Written on: 2006-06-23 13:09:34 Message: Depends on the distance. First of all, make sure you eat a good breakfast a couple hours prior to the race. For a sprint usually a GU before the swim. Water on the bike and run should get you home. An oly you may want to include another GU on the bike with one bottle water and one with electrolites ( I usually fill each only half way). Carry an extra GU or 2 on the run in case you need it.

I have been training with a gu pack (chocolate) before the bike and one (lime sublime) before the run, and I have never felt better. i used to have a bar before the race and I would always have a tummy ache or feel the dredded urgency to go... before the race was over. Now my tummy is content adn I am not wasted at the end.
