Subject: Warm up By: Shelly R. Written on: 2006-06-22 21:00:20 Message: What's a good warm up before the race? I have my first du (swim/bike/swim) on Sunday and would love some ideas.
Also, after this race, I really need to focus on the running part. Any suggestions on how to get back into the swing of things, since I've really been focusing on the swim & bike portions, since those are the only 2 legs in Sunday's race?
Thanks all!

I would try to get in the pool/lake and do a short swim just to get the feel of the water. One Sprint I did was in a pool. Did not even think of the water temp being a factor. By the time I finished the 550m I felt and looked like a cooked lobster! The water was atleast 90 degrees and made it very rough going from the pool to the 55 degree outside air temp for the bike portion. For running the only thing that you can do is get out there and do it.
Let me know how the My Way Tri goes. I was thinking about doing that race but it is out this year do to way to many conflicts. Sounds fun and I would love to hear about it.

Your warm up for the swim should be 10-15 prior to the start, everyone will be swimming the first leg of the swim, but the key is to swim the end leg. this will allow you to practice sighting and get a feel for any current.
Write yourself a schedule post it somewhere conspicuous.

After you claim a spot in the transition area spin the bike pedals for about 10 minutes or more, duriing this warm up take it up to race speed for about 30 seconds. Do a similar thing for the swim, if it were a tri you would want to do the same for the run.
This works for me,
Have fun
