Message: it seems like there is a battle between the injured and the athlete i'm fighting right now. I have a hurt knee, but it feels good most of the time except for about 2 hours after a workout and when stretching, but i have a race coming up this next weekend. Any suggestions to taper?

Message: Hey Dwight...

This is coming from somewhat of a beginner, but I work for a hospital and pick the brains of some of the docs who tri (as well as some friends who do also) and the common answer is, if it hurts, lay off of it and heal... may not be the answer you want, but you run the risk of really screwing things up for yourself if you keep banging on whatever is ailing you... for what it's worth.... also, as for the taper, have always adhered to the addage that you're not going to gain or lose anything in the last week before a race, so, if you have to exercise, do so at a low-end pace... again, for what it's worth...
