| Discussion: Weight Workouts | |
Subject: Weight Workouts By: Dwight Upshaw Written on: 2005-04-04 23:54:45 Message: They whould add weight workouts to the training program because this cite doesn't seem to even think that they are neccessary, when they are. Prevent injury, and increase force and power, along with muscular endurance. I like doing weight training along with my other stuff, if not just to make my body more well rounded.
Subject: RE: Weight Workouts By: Todd Hagan Written on: 2005-04-05 00:04:33 Message: I fully agree - helps with strength, decreases risks of injury, and, in moderation, tones (which is what I'm trying to do)... I just add the workouts in on my own - do upper body, abs and calves one day and do lower body, abs and calves another day.... It seems to help... For what it's worth...

Subject: RE: Weight Workouts By: Cate Allard Written on: 2005-04-15 05:39:53 Message: I agree that weight training is vital for strength, endurance and tone. I'm finding it hard to fit into my schedule with the training group and needed rest days to recover. How do you folks fit in the weight training, on your off days or in conjunction with the training days? I find that when I'm training I loose muscle despite increasing my protein. It almost seems as though I retain the fat and the muscle goes....That was what happen during my first year. After taking a short break after the HNL marathon I'm at it again, but this time I want to build the muscle not loose it. (first year I did stayed injury free) Suggestions?
Subject: RE: Weight Workouts By: Todd Hagan Written on: 2005-04-15 12:12:25 Message: What's worked for me is incorporating the workouts into my daily routines, worked my BMR to where it and my caloric intake are about equal (a little less, actually) and ripped from there. It's worked for the last month and a half - prior to which I was in weight loss mode. I've been holding steady at around 177 and have added some definition and some bulk (very little) - essentially mass redistribution! I work upper body on one day and lower body on another... Hope this helps...
