Message: I just moved and starting working a summer internship, and well I no longer have regular access to a pool for my swim trainin!!! I still run and use the exercise bike (I didnt bring a real bike with me) to train, but any suggestions on how to compensate for lack of a pool? BTW my race im training for is Sept. 10 (Cajunman tri - anyone else going?) a sprint, when I did have regular pool access I could do the distance already pretty comfortably but I don't want to start over in august when i get pool access again. THanks

Message: Damn Matt, that bites. My first thought is to make sure and keep your shoulders and neck loose and stretched. Lots of windmill rotation stuff maybe. Not much of a suggestion, sorry dude.
Good luck in Sept., you'll do great!

Message: Do you have access to a rowing machine? That will keep your arms and back in good shape.

Message: Matthew,

Pushups with finger tips from each hand pointing toward the tips of the other hand are good for shoulder strength and the push of the stroke. Don't over do it at first or it could make you sore.

If you can get to a Gym use the pull down machine with your hands close together and open palms to similate the various sections of your stroke. Use very light wieghts at first and be careful with your shoulders.

A lake, ocean or pool is important sorry for your predicament. How often can you get access to a pool?

Ron
