Message: Polar makes the best HRM's you can buy, but their also fairly expensive. They range from like $130-400 or more, but offer things like programable heart rate ranges and the ability to download the information to a computer for trend analysis. I saw some made by Reebok for like $40, and I'm looking at all the stores around here to find one that won't break me financially. That, and I keep an eye on eBay for a good deal. Anyways, I hope this helps.

Message: Actually, Polar makes models that start at $78.00, not $130. Sorry about that.

Message: I just picked up the baseline model Polar, F1, for $40.00. I have to take it back to the store because this one that I got doesn't go into "set" mode, but assuming that all goes well with the next one, this sure is a nifty gadget.

Message: I just bought the F1 as well because I lost the watch/receiver to my A3 earlier. I am taking the F1 back as well b/c you can't set ranges on ANY of the F1s. You have to buy the F2. However, after looking it over I would suggest to just "splurge" if you will, and go for the A3. It's a good, cheap, beginner HRM.

Message: I have a Reebok HR monitor that cost approx. $45 a yr. or so ago. I love it. Never had problems! There are some Polar HR monitors that run $50-$60 but they have limited features.
