Message: Fins can help learn body position and get a feel for hydrodynamics (easier to feel mistakes and inefficiency when you're going fast) but I see a lot of swimmers use them as a crutch at my masters group. I'd recommend making limited use of them in the off season, but the closer to race day you get the more I'd encourage you to go without.

The best way to get faster in the water is to join a masters group and get some coaching.

Good luck,

Erik

Message: Use them sparingly for training. I use them to help develop a stronger kick but take them off for everything else.
