Subject: first bike By: Eric M. Written on: 2006-06-12 13:54:23 Message: looking to get my first bike...I seem to be narrowed down to either the Felt F90 or the Trek 1000 (low budget). Any input to help make the decision would be appreciated.
Subject: RE: first bike By: Carie M. Written on: 2006-06-12 15:04:54 Message: I just bought my Felt a few weeks ago and I love it. It has been a good bike for the money thus far - but I will tell you to have them replace your brake pads (they did it for free at my bike shop). The pads that were on there didn't have much "grab" and make a horrible noise (not to mention the safety issue). I have ridden my friend's Trek and they have a comparable ride and control/ handling.

Subject: RE: first bike By: Stacey U. Written on: 2006-06-12 16:19:31 Message: I have a trek 1000 as my first bike, and just got a Trek Equinox 9. My trusty Trek 1000 is great, so says Bicycling magazines "Best Bikes/ Best Buys". I added aerobars, clipless pedals, and a cyclometer. You can't go wrong with a Trek. Felt is a great bike too, although my local bike shop (with the Treks) also sold Felts for a while but discontinued because the company had trouble keeping up with demand. If you decide to go with a Felt, make sure it's one in stock, or can be guaranteed to you from their warehouse. From what the bike shop told me, you may be waiting awhile if it's not already in stock. Good luck!
