Message: How much should I expect to pay for an entry level tri/road bike. Does anybody have any suggestions as to manufacturers?

Thanks,
Mike

Message: I paid 700 for my Quintana Roo Trueno (brand new). It is a good entry level tri bike. You can also get alot of good deals on ebay or go to your local bike shop (LBS) and see if they have any used bikes.

Message: Michael;

Since you are just starting out, you should decide whether you want to commit to a full blown tri bike or start out on a more conventional road bike that you can upgrade as your skills progress. A tri bike has a lot harsher ride and position. You may be better served starting on a Trek 1000 or similar, building up some mileage and then adding aerobars as you get more comfortable. As usual, whatever it is, make sure it fits...

Message: Michael,

I just went and bought a Trek 1000 for $650 (ended up $900 after aerobars, water bottle holder, speedometer, tax....) everyone says it's a great bike and Trek has a payment plan of no payments or interest for 6 months. I went for the plan. My first race is in 2 weeks, and hopefully it will be fun on the new bike.
