Subject: tri books By: mischa berg Written on: 2005-03-18 16:14:51 Message: Thanks Danna for the book recommendation. I was wondering what the rest of you would recommend I read. Have any of you read any great books for beginning triathletes?
Subject: RE: tri books By: Tania Myers Written on: 2005-03-20 16:01:24 Message: As I am training for my first triathlon I have been reading everything I can find. I recommend books by Sally Edwards, "The Complete Book of Triathlons" and "Triathlons for Women". Both have some great information and lots of pointers. I have also read "The Triathletes Training Bible" by Joe Friel. All 3 of these have been very useful. I prefer the books by Sally Edwards as she is geared more toward the female triathlete.

It broke it down down perfectly for a beginners perspective and was very inspiring as well. I would recommend you start with that, then if yu decide you want to delve further into the world of triathlon, then start researching books that match your level of interest. There is an overwhelming amount of material out there to read and it can start to become white noise if it doest pertain to your specific needs. You could also suscribe to a tri mag. They always have great tid bits for training, diet and equipment... Good luck with the sport!
Subject: RE: tri books By: John Day Written on: 2005-03-22 17:02:44 Message: Time saving training for multi-sport athletes by Rick Niles is good. I have read several books on the subject (including Sally Edwards) and have found the best (for me) to be the Triathlete's training bible by Joe Friel. He uses a similar approach to the heartzones training technique that Sally uses and is a great resource for understanding periodization.
