Subject: another question By: Ryan Patton Written on: 2005-03-07 19:34:48 Message: I am doing my first tri in a month. the water is going to be 68 degrees and it is an open water 1/4 mile swim. Should I invest in a wetsuit or is the race to short for the wetsuit?

Subject: RE: another question By: John Day Written on: 2005-03-14 00:10:26 Message: If you can go out there and swim it and feel good- then don't buy the wetsuit. If you get out there and want to die, then go get one. My first wetsuit I bought for like $30 at Sam's club. The high end ones ($350) are awesome- but tons of guys don't use them. 68 degrees is very warm to me- but you gotta do what works for you. Good luck and have fun.
Subject: RE: another question By: Jamie Boward Written on: 2005-03-14 10:54:38 Message: check out the info I posted to Dan on wetsuits. A lot is going to depend on how long the swim is. 72 degrees is about where the body starts using more calories to keep it heated unless you train in that kind of water.

Subject: RE: another question By: Ryan Patton Written on: 2005-03-14 19:03:37 Message: Thanks for the input. I think I am going to go out there and see how it feels without a wetsuit. I will probably buy one soon anyway since they are on sale. I will let you know how the event turns out.
