Message: What do you guys recommend as an entry level bike? I finished my first tri on a horrible bike and would like to step things up a bit. I've looked at a Specialized Allez and I'm not going to be able to spend much more than that. Maybe a used bike would be better. Do you guys have any suggestion? Where should I look?

Message: I don't know how much the Allez goes for but I have been thrilled with my bikes from Orbea. Ever since I purchased the Onix frameset, I have had NO bike lust.

Message: My first tri bike was a Quintana Roo Trueno. It is basic in all aspects but has aero bars. I paid $700 brand new on Ebay.

Message: My first was a Trek 1000 (just rated as Bicycling Magazine's best entry-level bike). I got it at the end of the season for about $500. I put aerobars on it, and it took me through 2+ seasons before I upgraded.

Message: My entry level bike is a road bike. I got a Fuji Team Pro. I paid $1700 for it. It was one of the top choices for cycling magazine in 2005 for bang for your buck. I have altegra components and it has carbon fiber forks and rear. A bike with the same componentry from Treck would have been $2200. I just added aero bars and finished my first duathlon this weekend. Rode great. I beat alot of people with the high speed tri bikes that people pay 5 grand for and aero helmets. I think you can go overboard on a bike. There is a point where you can spend an extra grand and not really get your moneys worth.
