| Discussion: Shin Splints | |
Subject: Shin Splints By: Julie Arasi Written on: 2005-02-26 11:56:50 Message: Hi! This is my first time and i am training for a half ironman triathalon. The Swimming and the Biking is easy for me, but the challenge is running. After a few miles, I get really bad cramping in the front of my shins. Most of the time this causes me to stop my workout early.

Subject: RE: Shin Splints By: david goff Written on: 2005-02-26 22:45:42 Message: hang in there, julie. the anterior tibialis is a muscle that runs along the front of the shin. for pain i use ice - fill dixie cups with waterand put them in the freezer, take them out, peel the cup and rub on shins like stick deordorant. to strengthen that muscle thus preventing the injury, sit barefoot while watching tv with a towel beneath your feet. "grab" the towel with your toes and scrunch it in towards you - you'll probably feel this if you're already sore. this should help. rock on!!!!!!! dave | |
