Subject: 1st time sprint tri

Message: I am doing my 1st tri next weekend. I have been biking for a while and I swam in college and recently have been putting in laps with the high school swim team. Running- just started January 1st. Finishing should be no problem but doing well is a different story.
Any helpful hints out there to pass on to us newbies? How to get through the transitions, toe Clips and running shoes vs clipless and change the shoes, etc

Thanks. Just getting ready to do this has been alot of fun

Message: Hey Bob,First things first congrats and good luck! For what its worth being a newbie myself,I don't know If I Qualify to give advice but I've read everthing I could get my hand on about what to expect.I've read in several different places ,to race with the same equipment you done your training with. One week before your event is way to close to try to experiment with new equipment. If I can't get my hands on a second hand road bike I'm gonna hold my head up high and hammer it through on my 40 lb mountain bike in my running shoes.Good luck, I wish my event was next week,I have to wait till June!

Message: Thanks for the encouragement Mike. I will be on my trusty Raliegh (It's been with me for 3 years and 6000 miles) I have about decided to put on toe clips and ride with running shoes to make the transition faster. I will have to put on shoes just once. I don't think that I will gain much time with clipless in just 15 miles.

Good luck and post how things go in June
